Matty and Matty Turbo plus not meeting Jodie Whittaker

Two games in one! Or is that 4 games in 2

I have to confess I have no claim on this game, it pre-dates my Poker life.

This is another simple game if you can already play Hold'em. Invented by Matty (that's not to say Matty is simple, far from it), hence the name.

Basics For Matty (that's not to say Matty is Basic either)

All players dealt 3 cards face down. Usual flop (3 cards), turn (1 card), River (1 card). Players MUST play 2 from their hand and 3 from the table.

After playing this you can advance onto "Matty Turbo". Don't panic it doesn't require you to run around quickly or even play quicker. No "Turbo" in “West End Speak” means you can play 2 or 3 from your hand. i.e.

All players dealt 3 cards face down. Usual flop (3 cards), turn (1 card), River (1 card). Players MUST play 2 or 3 cards from their hand and 3 or 2 cards from the table to make the best 5 card hand.

Now it's time for a glimpse into the shed.

What about if Matty meets Dr Whoo? (missed the last "o" off as this isn't Omaha). And no this version doesn't come from "Shat" (Skelmanthorpe for the uninitiated, home town of Jodie Whittaker). For simplicity we won’t add where they meet, what they did before or while they were there, what colour the river ended up at the end of the visit or any other external factors that could change the rules, as that would spoil future posts.

All players dealt 3 cards face down. Usual flop (3 cards), turn (1 card), River (1 card). Players MUST play 2 from their hand and 3 from the table. Plus any ONE of those cards if they are a HEART can be wild.

If you find this to complicated for you, don’t panic. Simply go back to post 3 and see how to play “bog standard” Dr Whooo (Wild hearts only one Omaha). Once you have mastered this transferring the knowledge to Dr Matty will be simple.

Now the brighter one’s among you (well anyone with half a brain really) will realise Matty Turbo can be given a doctorate too, to become Dr Matty Turbo.

All players dealt 3 cards face down. Usual flop (3 cards), turn (1 card), River (1 card). Players MUST play 2 or 3 cards from their hand and 3 or 2 cards from the table to make the best 5 card hand. PLUS any one of those 5 cards if they are a HEART can be wild.

You will find that with the added option of 3 cards plus a potential wild creates much higher hand. Steady on the betting until you get the hang of the game.

I will finish now before we think about moving state (or beaches), but I can assure you this is not the last we will hear of Matty, he will even be considered as a stud in the future!
